Energy Focus, Inc. (NASDAQ: EFOI) has announced that it has introduced the portfolio of Germicidal UV-C Disinfection products. The company has launched three initial products includes nUVoTM, abUVTM, and mUVeTM. These UV-C Disinfection products have a patent-pending technology designed for killing 99.9+ pathogens including influenza and coronaviruses such as SARS and SARS-CoV-2, in the air or on surfaces to improve indoor hygiene and sanitation.
These products are necessary to fulfill the disinfection needs of industrial, commercial, and residential indoor environments. Customers will be able to pre-order the products through the company e-commerce website and it is expected that the delivery of products will be commenced in the first quarter of 2021.
nUVoTM is a Portable Air Disinfection Tower for Small Offices & Homes and abUVTM, an Integrated LED lighting and UV-C Air Disinfection Troffer Powered by the EnFocus™ Lighting Control Platform, and the last one is mUVeTM which is the Autonomous Surface and Floor Disinfection Robot.
Energy Focus aimed to offer affordable disinfection products for businesses and homes to decrease the risk of infection. These products are manufactured in a way that they protect human from direct exposure of UV-C rays. abUVTM and nUVoTM are designed in a way that its enclosed self-contained UV-C disinfection units automatically inactivates pathogens and reduce the risk of infection in the air. While the third product mUVeTM is made up of advanced sensors and autonomous technologies were embedded in it to reduce the exposure of humans during the disinfection process.
The UC-V lighting spectrum utilized by Energy Focus at 254 nanometers wavelength and it is proven to be effective in killing pathogens. The lighting spectrum is useful in breaking the DNA and RNA bond in cells of certain bacteria, viruses, fungi, and mold. It has been proven that other longer wavelengths UV spectrums including UV-A and UV-B are not able to inactivate viruses. Similarly, these new products of Energy Focus are different from other disinfectants that are composed of irritating and environmentally harmful chemicals.
