In a strategic move, One Stop Systems (OSS) recently finalized an agreement to undertake a pilot initiative aimed at delivering a liquid immersion-cooled data storage system for deployment in a mobile ground station. This initiative is projected to pave the way for subsequent production orders.
Facilitated through a prominent global defense prime contractor, this achievement marks a significant milestone as it represents the premiere liquid immersion-cooled high-performance compute solution designed for a U.S. intelligence agency mobile ground station application, thus expanding OSS’ reach within the intelligence community.
OSS fortifies a deployable ground station at the edge with two 3U-SDS units integrated into an immersion-cooled liquid system. The bespoke storage accelerator system will be reinforced to withstand the rigors of challenging edge environments. The immersion-cooled technology employs non-conductive, chemically inert, non-corrosive fluids with properties akin to water.
These fluids fully immerse products like the 3U-SDS, utilizing the liquid’s boiling point characteristics to efficiently dissipate heat from the electronics, obviating the need for bulky heat sinks, fans, or liquid pumps. The absence of heat sinks facilitates the creation of compact rugged platforms, ensuring high performance and minimal noise, crucial attributes for edge computing.
The NVMe SSDs will be securely housed within removable, encrypted drive packs, facilitating convenient expansion and transport of data storage. For seamless transfer of vast datasets to secure cloud repositories, the drive packs can be effortlessly transitioned to SDS servers or Centauri storage expansion systems situated in ground stations equipped with high-bandwidth Internet connectivity.
This recent achievement follows One Stop Systems’ unveiling of a direct-to-chip liquid-cooled solution tailored for a foreign navy submarine application, underscoring the company’s commitment to advancing cutting-edge cooling solutions for rugged high-performance computing at the edge.
